When the Visionary Says “10X” and the Team Wants to Hide
Research in neuroscience suggests that when people experience high levels of uncertainty, ambiguity, or perceived threat, the brain allocates fewer resources to higher-level thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving.
In other words, when people feel overwhelmed by the future, their capacity to think strategically often decreases rather than expands.
Picture This
A visionary leader stands in front of the team and says:
“We’re going to 10X this company.”
The visionary leaves the meeting energized.
Some team members leave inspired.
Others leave wondering if they should update their resume.
Why?
Because the same vision that creates excitement for one person can create uncertainty, overwhelm, and even fear for another.
And here’s the part most leaders miss:
The problem isn’t the size of the vision.
The problem is expecting everyone to process the vision the same way.
